Invitation for a Foreigner

An invitation for a foreigner is a document confirming that the host provides financial means for the invited person’s stay in Poland, including accommodation, food, and return travel costs. While having an invitation is not mandatory for crossing the Polish border, it can be helpful when applying for a visa or during border control.

Invitations can be issued by:

• Polish citizens who reside in the Republic of Poland.
• Foreigners who have:
  • permanent residence permit,
  • EU long-term resident status,
  • legal and uninterrupted stay in Poland for at least 5 years before issuing the invitation.
• EU, EFTA and Swiss citizens who have the right of residence or permanent residence in Poland.
• Legal entities and organizational units based in Poland.

To issue an invitation, the following documents are required:

1. Application – must be submitted in Polish. If you don’t know how to do it, contact us! We’ll be happy to help.
2. Rental agreement or other document confirming possession of a place of residence in Poland.
3. Proof of financial means.

The fee for registering the invitation is only 27 PLN, but it’s important to remember the financial requirements:

• 515 PLN/month for the invited foreigner’s stay (or 200 PLN/month for family members).
• Funds to cover return travel costs, e.g.:
  • 200 PLN – to neighboring countries,
  • 500 PLN – to other European countries,
  • 2500 PLN – to countries outside Europe.
