Driving License Exchange

If you live in Poland and want to exchange your foreign driving license for a Polish one, you must go through a specific procedure. Check who can apply, what documents are needed, and what costs are associated with exchanging your driving license. Also find out if you will need to take an exam.

An application for exchanging a foreign driving license must be submitted by a person who:

• Either plans permanent residence in Poland due to their personal ties.
• Stays in the territory of the Republic of Poland for at least 185 days in each calendar year due to their personal and professional ties,

To complete the procedure of exchanging your driving license for a Polish one, you need to prepare:

2. Passport – copy and original for verification.
3. Document confirming the right to stay in Poland (visa or residence card).
4. Current color photograph – compliant with official requirements (35×45 mm).
5. Photocopy of foreign driving license – both sides (original for verification).
6. Certified translation of driving license – prepared or certified by a sworn translator or appropriate consul of the Republic of Poland.
7. Medical certificate – if required.
   • Additional health requirements: Persons with vision impairments or other health issues are required to provide detailed medical certificates.

You must take a driving test if your driving license:

• Is not issued in a country that signed the Convention on Road Traffic (Vienna Convention), or
• The document does not meet international standards recognized by Poland, then you will be required to pass a theoretical exam at a Polish examination center.

• Driving license exchange fee: 100.00 PLN.
• Additional costs: May include certified translation, medical examinations, or other certificates, depending on the applicant’s situation.
